Running start to 2024

Happy New Year!

We are going to be more than OK right out of the gate, with a fun run New Year’s morning from Tomahawk Chop here in Batesville.

Things are going to run a bit differently online this year, as I intend to post regularly here. I aim to give race schedule updates, notice of my own running plans, occasional bits of coaching advice, and perhaps shout-outs to running friends on their achievements.

OK Timing Plus will be a bit different itself, as co-founder April Kramer is stepping off to other pursuits. Look for her teaching yoga or out on race courses instead of behind the timing table.

I have posted my timing commitments for the year ahead, nearly all confirmed. A few dates are reserved in the same calendar week as the 2023 race pending notice from presumptive annual events.

My personal running plans for January are weekday afternoons at BHS track after school (3:15-4:30) for light miles and occasional push laps, bleachers work, and neighborhood runs. With campus construction, be prepared to park away from the stadium. I can run later in the afternoon with anyone not on a school schedule, if you give me a bit of notice by text or email. On weekends, I intend to roam assorted area routes usually in the same 3-5 p.m. window. I’ll try to post here or on Facebook as I figure where/when to go.

White River Health has scheduled a 5K Feb. 17 on the cart paths of Cooper’s Hawk Country Club in Melbourne, so that will replace For the Love of Running 5K on Miller Creek Road that April and I have presented previously. I do plan free fun runs at Miller Creek Road on a weekend or two in January and February, so we can get our fix.

All the best to you and yours in the new year!
