Miles, meals and more (1/19/25)

This weekend’s “Distance and Dinner / Miles and Meals” run will start Sunday (1/19/25), 4 pm, from the horse arena area at Miller Creek Road.

Friends have just announced an Aug 2 “Miller Creek Heat 10K” on our past “For the Love of Running” course this summer. I’m calling Sunday’s run a “Miller Creek Chill 10K” preview as we will run that out-and-back route to Moorefield Cutoff. It’s a mixed gravel/paved country lane and the “Heat 10K” is advertising it as one of the flattest stretches around.

I warn those more sensitive to elevation that it does have what the endurance-running organizers and I barely notice as gentle gradual climbs from the start to the cutoff. That of course means it’s gentle downhill return to lowest ground coming back, so there’s a bit of stealth speed gain. If you’ve got company or you usually run typical Batesville hills, you will shrug these off.

Our expected group will have one running to the lone intersection on the course and back for just a 5K; one of us will likely do the full out and back 10K; and a couple of us plan to push on to maybe 8-10 miles before we decide where to meet for dinner after.

All paces/distances welcome (spread the word to friends not online), and up to you to join on the food trail after.

Temps are forecast below 30 all day, so layer up and cover fingers and ears.

And keep Feb 15 in mind for the Batesville Pioneer fundraiser event at the Course at Eagle Mountain. We will have online registration for that open soon and I will share the link.
