RACES: The 48th Andy Buschmann 4-Mile Classic is in the books with a strong showing by local teens and age-group regulars. Jack Heston made the morning road trip from afar to complete his 48th run with Andy’s daughter Terra continuing the Buschmann family’s perfect attendance as well.
PIONEER XC COACHES: Meanwhile, the Batesville Pioneers have their new basketball coaches in place and they will handle the cross country squads as well with volunteer assistant yours truly. Girls hoops Coach Russell Stumpenhaus and boys Coach Luke Tate replace Coaches Fowler and Middlebrooks. With the school athletic “dead weeks” just ahead, we will wait to start summer practices until 7 a.m. July 6.
OPEN GROUP RUNS: I invite one and all to join me M-W-F at 7 a.m. the next few weeks before I get busy with Pioneer summer workouts. I run loop courses with whatever pace pals join me, and faster runners track back so that the pack splits and reforms. Everyone has company some of the time and no one gets lost (for long), ignored or left behind.
Monday, 6/8, I am going back to UACCB, starting at 7 am from the Independence Hall front lot. I also had a request for a parks trail route for Monday evening at 6:30, so I will run from the Batesville High gym parking lot on park trails and sections of the Sara Low 5K.
Wednesday, 6/10, I’ll start from the Community Center lot by Rowe Lake at 7 a.m. to run park trails and either cemetery or Goff Addition neighborhood loops.
Friday, 6/12, let’s go from Brown Chapel front lot at Lyon College at 7 a.m.
REQUESTS, CONNECTIONS: Feel free to comment here, text, or email me if you’d like to arrange a group run, have a course preview, hire me to coach/time, or connect with other runners with similar training patterns or goals. Happy to help however I can.
